Helen Taylor trained at Sheffield University, ......... (M.A. Landscape Architecture) following an undergraduate degree at Durham University.......... (B.A. Honours, Geography). Helen attained professional membership of the Landscape Institute in 1991. After 12 years working as a landscape designer in private practice and local authority in Scotland and the north of England, Helen set up her own design consultancy in 1999, based in Burley-in-Wharfedale, near Ilkley, West Yorkshire, specialising in the design of private gardens. Most projects are in the Ilkley, Harrogate, York areas and the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park, but Helen does undertake projects both nationally and internationally. |
Helen has won awards and design competitions: The Sunday Times Garden Design Competition, 1992 for the walled garden at Formakin; a Silver Gilt Award at the Harrogate Flower Show, 1999 and a REEP Award, 2005 for Burley Woodhead School garden design. Helen has been involved in teaching at Royal Horticultural Society Harlow Carr, Harrogate and at Leeds Metropolitan University and has run short courses for those interested in designing their own gardens. The practice has been featured in the Yorkshire Post (July 2003) and Living magazine (August 2005) for the unique PLAN IT IN A DAY service. |
