CONSULTATION FEES For both Landscape and Garden design, fees are charged on a time basis, or as a percentage of construction costs. A charge will be applied for travel expenses. A fixed fee quotation can be provided for
garden designs following the initial briefing meeting. There is
a charge for the briefing meeting to cover time and travel expenses.
|
|
This first meeting with the garden designer
is to establish your ideas, needs and budget and will involve a
walk around your garden to discuss any problem areas, the potential
of the garden and any thoughts you have on how you would like the
garden developed. The designer will show you a portfolio of completed
designs which can act as a starting point for discussions about
design ideas. It is useful to the designer if you can provide photographs
or cuttings of gardens you like and to have considered materials,
plants and garden styles that you like or dislike. |
|
When the Client Brief has been
finalised the Garden Designer will visit your garden to take detailed
measurements of the garden boundaries and features to produce a
scaled plan of your existing garden as a basis for the design plans.
The designer will also make a detailed photographic record of your
garden and examine the character and setting of the garden; views
- good and bad - and screening requirements; the aspect and microclimate;
soil type and drainage. |
|
An appointment will be set
up to discuss the garden designers initial ideas in response to
your briefing and the site survey and analysis. This meeting gives
you the opportunity to consider different solutions to your requirements.
The outline plans are draft plans drawn in pencil and explore possible
layouts without going into great detail. A budget cost can be provided
at this stage. |
|
A final plan drawing of your preferred design from stage C will be prepared, with any relevant sections. The plan will be drawn to scale usually in ink and show details of the proposals i.e. positions of proposed paths and paving, walls and fencing and the extent and character of the planting (not individual species). A more detailed cost can be provided at this point. |
|
When the layout and materials have been
agreed, the following details can be prepared to allow the detailed
costing and implementation of the plan. |
|
A detailed price can be arranged from a
recommended list of landscape contractors either with one firm that
best suits your needs or from 2 or more firms to provide a competitive
quote. Complete supervision of all stages of the works or supervision
of a limited number of operations as required can be provided to
ensure good workmanship and accuracy of the implementation. |
|
Guidelines for the continued
maintenance and management of your garden can also be provided.
